Shared Stories Home and Remodeling was founded by long-time contractors Virgil and Claire Murphy, who have dedicated themselves to providing reliable, high-quality restoration and remodeling services in the state of Maryland.
How did Virgil, our founder & owner of the Maryland Branch, go from serving in the military to starting a roofing business? It’s not as big of a career shift as you might think! Virgil brings many of the principles from his military training and Dave, owner of the Indiana Branch, brings many of the principles of his Culinary Career—including maintenance of high standards, attention to detail, and a thoughtful, systematic mindset—to run the roofing operations: from efficient communication and a service-minded attitude to clean job sites.
Lilly Hensrud, co-owner and lead design consultant, brings a dynamic, creative edge to the business. With roots in both Colombia and Pakistan, Lilly speaks five languages and has a background in graphic design with a focus in interior design. Her passion for color, aesthetics, and spatial harmony plays a key role in guiding clients through roofing and siding combinations that not only protect but elevate the beauty of their homes. Her global perspective and design-forward approach bring a unique warmth and personalization to every project.
Even now, with over 15 years of combined experience in the roofing industry, customer service remains at the heart of what we do. We operate with integrity and full transparency in all our communications, creating customized roofing & siding solutions for residential homes and commercial properties. We lean into the design aspect of the home with carefully chosen materials for each remodel process—we don’t just “give you an estimate.” All of our staff members are trained in storm damage restoration, and it’s our pride and joy to serve you as a kind, genuine roofing company.
